Many people for one reason or another view their pets as surrogate children. If they are surrogate children then... If you look people tend to have their vets do more agressive treatment than the past, partly because they can afford it. They dread the inevitable with pets almost as much as themselves, trying to keep the doggie or kitty grim reaper away.
