Why no ads?

I think it's fine to ask for money, but why no ads? A few discrete Google ads wouldn't hurt, and could generate some revenue.

By discrete I mean some simple text ads with a color scheme that matches the rest of the site -- no Flash, animated or even image ads. It's free to try, and you could always remove them if you/readers don't like it, or if they generate no profit.

At this point given the revenue split with Google and the difficulty in pre-screening such ads to make sure content is appropriate to the site, it doesn't make sense. Some time in the future I would like to get some ads up on the site.
