It proves that these folks are like everyone else who wants to get it when the getting is good. Otherwise unless you are a Rockefeller or a Gates or a Walton, why go to Congress? It pays poorly for the level of effort required to get the job and the effort required to keep it compared to the private sector. Public service does not pay the college costs for the children. Right now they know who is who, and this is worth a lot of money, so why not exploit it while the iron is hot?
