Probably not worth the effort

I'm ten paragraphs into Bennet's screed and rolling my eyes at least once per graf. One suspect premise after another ("Whether or not American democracy endures [after Trump]"). His lack of self-awareness is almost pathological, and his self-righteousness ("It was the kind of crisis in which journalism could fulfil its highest ambitions of helping readers understand the world, in order to fix it") is fatuous. Frankly, the Times should take him back. They deserve him. He belongs there. Not because he can make it a better paper, but because he's a kindred spirit of the young safe space-seeking hacks.
