The problem with Immelt in this role is that his focus will be on Big Business, not on creating a more vibrant free market. We see the president (regardless of party) taking CEOs on trips to China, etc. to help land deals. How does the small guy get to have that kind of support? He doesn't.

Immelt will propose ideas that help big business of course! What bothers me most about Immelt is that much of his growth strategy for GE is focused on areas where governments subsidize. I expect his position will increase this. (Disclosure: I have owned GE stock for years.)
