I always wonder whether these comparative analysis take into account education levels. If the public employees are better educated than the private sector workers to which they are compared, it is entirely reasonable and expected that they will be better compensated. The fed numbers are skewed, for example, by the outsourcing of many lower-level jobs that if counted would shift both median and mean figures down the scale.
