I don't believe that Obama's comments on "peaceful transitions" reflect naivete or a hard-left doctrine. I believe that Obama doesn't want "the people" to use violence against U.S. "allies" in places like Jordan, Egypt or Saudi Arabia, but would encourage it in places like Iran. I think that's the true assessment of his comments. Listen to the difference between Hilary Clinton's words on the Egyptian Uprising ("We want a peaceful and orderly transition") and her words on uprisings in Iran ("We think people are doing the right thing!"). Obama's comments are simply a reflection of U.S. Real Politik and not much else.
