seriously, people. grow up. even ayn rand came to realize the value of the social safety net, accepting Medicare when she was ill. of course she claimed them under her husband's name. she took far more than she ever put into the system. she was a hypocrite.

there's a reason high schoolers love her books: it appeals to their inherent selfishness. i suppose for those with arrested development, the message continues to resonate. but the rest of us realize the world is far more complex. the only thing reason her ideas aren't more offensive is that they're simply so laughable.
