Hard assetsReader comment on: Sizing the Gold and Silver Bet Submitted by Larry (United States), Mar 18, 2011 07:51 I have been a contrarian since I was 25. It was then that I decided that the Congress had no intention of balancing budgets, but rather to spend and spend and spend to garner votes for re-election.. No family nor any country can do that without end. For 55 years I have watched Congress fiddle while the $ fell. The 1967 CPI index was a 100 cent dollar. Today it has fallen to about $.15. My answer is to accumulate silver and hard asset stocks. As we in the US lose the $$ as the world reserve currency, we shall suffer accordingly. I have always remembered the young German refugee I met in 1940, who told me his mother gave him a one million Deutschmark note and the baker wanted two million for a loaf of bread!
