I don't get the sense that Media Matters intimidates Fox News in the least. And how is what they are doing retaliatory? Media Matters is an organization that tries to call Fox on its many lies and exaggerations. This is not a chilling effect, but a way of balancing the propaganda that Fox puts forth each day. If Obama had the FBI investigating Murdoch, I would be worried, but this is not the same at all. Fox can always defend itself against unfounded accusations (if they are actually unfounded), or perhaps report facts instead of rumors and innuendo.

Free press means that everyone should be able to do battle with their ideas in an open way. Fox should be willing to stand by its "reporting."
