Reader comment on: Krugman on Europe

Submitted by Lyle (United States), Jan 11, 2010 13:06

Looking at the comments to the Krugman piece on the NYT web site, many us expats seem to agree with Krugman. The first issue that arises from the comments is GDP a measure of societal happiness, or just a stuff obsession? It is different strokes for different folks, Europe had a much more traumatic 20th century than the US and as a result it opted for security over maximimum economic gain. Interestingly the US population growth is largely in the immigrant population, as people stay over generations they decide that children do not provide enough value to justify.
