A hypothetical

Reader comment on: Insider Trading Victims

Submitted by Jerry Skurnik (United States), May 18, 2011 17:12

Suppose the Mets were playing the Yankees in the World Series. The owner of the Mets bribes Mariano Rivera to throw the Series by walking some Mets in crucial situations. The Mets end up winning the Series 4 games to 1. When the bribe of Rivera is revealed, the Future of Baseball owner points out that the Met out-hit the Yankees in the Series, that Rivera lost only one game and it was because of an error by Derek Jeter and so they would have won anyway and that therefore saying the Mets & Rivera cheated is more complicated than that.

FutureOfBaseball would be correct about that.
