I'm afraid the answer is as simple as it is politically incorrect. Jews are prominent, period. One can cite the usual statistics about the percentage of science Nobelists, etc., who are Jewish. Hence it's not surprising that Jews are prominent on all sides of an intellectual debate. Charles Murray wrote an article on the topic (of Jewish prominence/success) for Commentary a few years ago, but ended up dodging the question with a throw away line. (They're "the chosen people.")
