Texas is a disaster

Texas is the going conservative utopia in which the beast has been starved. I have a friend in Texas who is a teacher and her class size is over 50! Can't imagine too much learning is going on in that class, even though she is a very good teacher. She is planning on leaving Texas because of how terribly they are treating their teachers. The end result, private school for those can afford it. The legislature seriously thought about ending medicaid in the state, dropping hundreds of thousands of children from having healthcare.

This all speaks to the kind of society we wish to build. If we want very low taxes, we will have to deal with incredible amounts of inequity, little to no social safety net and an entrenched ruling class. That is not the America I would like to live in. Perhaps Texas should secede, Governor Perry has expressed interest. . .
