Thank you for humor about & under a president as ignorant as the encumbant

Reader comment on: The President's Excess Income and Ours

I find this the most wearisome presidency of my lifetime, and I've been around under some pretty wearisome presidents. But this one, and his consort, really outdoes himself everytime he opens his mouth. He could learn more from emulating Calvin Coolidge (who, as it happens, was before my time) than Ronald Reagan or TR. They didn't call him "Silent Cal" for nothing. A woman once rushed up to him and gushed, "Mr. President, I bet a dear friend of mine that I could get you to say more than two words to me." His laconic reply, "You lose."

We could use a lot more of that from the president, his loquacious and doltish advisers and his entire cabinet. If not Calvin Coolidge, they might try imitating the monks who take a vow of silence.

In short: enough already, Mr. President. Now it's time for you to eat your peas, and don't talk with your mouth full. Or slam the door on your way out. Here's your coat---what's your rush?
