State Benefit and Pension reform for all 50 states

Reader comment on: Governor Griebel?

As candidate for Governor of Colorado a top priority of my campaign is to align state benefits and retirement plans with the average of the private sector. State pensions are creating unfunded liabilities that are destroying state budgets. Double and triple dipping is common in some states and it must be stopped. There is no reason the tax payers should be paying for state workers pensions and benefits when they can't even afford their own. This is unfair and must stop.

The state worker lobbyists have had an impact with Democrats and Republicans but they will hold no clout with me. I will be seeking one term and implementing as much reform as I can in four years and then going back to the private sector where I make my true living.

State benefits are actually worse than federal benefits in many states and should be easier to reform with the right Governors and legislatures... But voters must do their homework.
