Ira, most of your analysis makes sense, but only for the U.S. market. According to Google's latest SEC filing, 54% of their revenue comes from outside the U.S. If Google were to buy a U.S. carrier, they would still have to make deals with other carriers all over the world, including presumably China Mobile, which at the present time there is no chance of anyone owning other than the Chinese government. It seems they would be better to avoid the headache and potential or perceived conflict of interest that would come from owning a carrier in the U.S. market since they will have to operate that way in most of the rest of the world anyway.
