The total federal tax take as a percent of GDP is now the lowest in 60 years.

It was noted in a budget hearing that the total federal tax take is under 18% of gdp compared to an average of 20 %. In order to fix the deficit problem it has to come back to at least the average value. I like the idea of a vat and abolishing the corp tax, because its to easy to game the corp tax. The individual income tax is a bit harder to game as to really avoid it you have to renounce us citzenship.
