If the Interior Department would resume deepwater exploration plan and permit approvals to their historic norm, industry could create an additional 230,000 thousand jobs, more than $44 billion in U.S. GDP and nearly $12 billion in tax and royalty revenues — all in the first year, according to a recent study by IHS Global Insight.
