Why did the NYT goes after Lauder

A few paragraphs into the article, we learn that the relatively small timer, Lauder, was a major contributor to JEWISH (my emphasis) causes. The Times went to town on Madoff and his Jewish connections and it has "used" Israel as a major moneymaker for decades as the paper's longest running story. It's time for the Orthodox community to take their head out of the sand and fight the Times' anti-Semitism rather than continue to proudly boycott it, and for the rest of the community to join the battle.
