facts can be inconvenient

Reader comment on: Regulatory Reversals

Some with Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS) overlook facts that contradict a perception. The examples above are mild compared with Obama's actions on guns, Israel and illegal immigration. On guns, Obama has done nothing (sadly). On Israel, Obama has been a great friend to Israel. On immigration, the administration has increased deportations and the flow of illegal immigrants has slowed (a down economy is of course a large part of the reason - but regardless, this fact is inconvenient to those who label him "soft" on illegal immigration). Luckily, we have a whole campaign and Obama will have gobs of money to get the facts out, and when he does, he will roll over whichever Republican ends up winning the nomination.

The Future of Capitalism replies:

Well I'm not sure that getting out the facts on increased deportations/decreased entry will actually help Obama, but maybe I have a more optimistic or unrealistic view of public opinion on the immigration issue than you do. On Israel I think the record is mixed. On guns it seems like they sent some to Mexico, which in retrospect probably wasn't such a great idea.
