Ah, the slippery slope. I wish we could ban slippery slope arguments - they n'th degree never happens (government regulating sleep!). It would seem as person in favor of a free markets I would think that a company could base its hiring decisions on diet, exercise and smoking. The important question is relative to the government. We already pay the healthcare of millions, and we don't limit smoking (although we tax it), sleeping or diet. I would be in favor of the approach we take with cigarettes. They are harmful and the government picks up some of the expense, so we should tax them at a higher rate to recoup that expense. If people want to pay more, than it their personal choice. This is a free market solution to the problem. Same goes for diet. Fatty foods that cause health problems should be more expensive than healthy foods. Gas guzzlers should be more expensive to operate than gas sippers.
