I did not take him to mean that "all faculty members" think they "know better", just the sort Obama consorts with. The ones you cite, such as Professor Mankiw and Epstein, decidedly do not think they "know better" in the sense that they are willing to let individuals, acting freely in a capitalist society, make choices they belive to be in their own best interests. Agree with the last bit, though. Anti-Wall Street sentiment is overblown, to say the least.
