Reader comment on: More Subsidized Solar Layoffs

Submitted by Lyle (United States), Mar 1, 2012 17:27

When the decisions were made on the loans, the price of modules was about $4.5/watt. According to solar buzz in the US today it's about $2.3. The high price was based upon the high price at the time of silicon wafers which the analysts in their infinite wisdom thought would continue. Then the collapse happened, and all the alternatives became non-economic. Given that the useless analysts in their usual thinking could not predict the future why expect anyone else to?
