Reader comment on: The Case Against a VAT

Ultimately, we will institute a VAT; as in Britain and Canada. It is the simplest, and fairest method of reducing the deficit and maintaining government services.

In my opinion it is not regressive. The rich will spend more and pay more.

It should be accompanied by an uncomplicated , low rate flat income tax without loopholes .

Hopefully, it would allow the implementation of a single payer, universal health care system.

Please, spare me the bunk of "socialism". That is so sad an excuse and so outdated!

Meanwhile, let's look for an Indendent third party to put Washington back on the straight and narrowl
