Reader comment on: Patriotic Millionaires

When you travel overseas to countries that have heavy-handed government and less of a free market, you also hear something interesting if talking to people, say the waitstaff in a restaurant. Their goal is to get a government job because that's a guarantee of a stable, prosperous life. Personal initiative doesn't pay, so just hook up with the government bureaucracy. Go along to get along. It has struck me as a sad statement about those countries.

In the last few years we've seen young people in the US aspiring to government jobs, and the president wants the "best and the brightest" to get government jobs. Are we moving in the same direction as these poorly governed countries?

What a waste of the next generation of potential wealth creators.
