The US will be forced into a lot of changes by outside forces

In some sense the Europeans will view this as an opportunity to get back at the US for our deeds in the 1920s when we told them the way it would be. (We had the gold at the time and could make it stick). The G-20 will decide that Wall Street needs to be cut down to size and the US will have to comply.
