The coop if properly run should provide lower prices than a company since the customers will get any profits in the end not stockholders. I guess one point of view is that a coop is a form of socialism and therefore bad, even if the customers themselves organize it. It is more a question of a satisified versus a management that has goals. Yet for example credit unions (which are coops) in general deliver better service to their owners than the big banks do to their customers.
