even if you say 3 in million is a small chance (we don't actually know, more cases might appear) most parents will not want to take the risk after knowing this and stop using this "por si las moscas" like they say in Spanish. mind you people are probably checking their baby when in the carrier every now and then (at least I did) which is probably why the death rate isn't that high (yet)

For example people donĀ“t sleep their children face-down anymore to avoid SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) even if maybe the actual probabilty of that happening based on sleeping them face-down is very low.
