Death by regulation

Reader comment on: Savings Bank Names New President

Submitted by John Gillis (United States), Oct 20, 2012 16:21

If only all the government-lovers who wrongly claim that "de-regulation" of banks was the cause of the financial meltdown of 2007-8, were "forced" to read John Allison's new book on capitalism and the banking system. It would be hard for any of such government-lovers, if they actually read his chapters on banks and regulation, to ever make such a wrong-headed claim again.

Although I knew banks were heavily regulated before I read the book, I was stunned how massively it has been growing for decades. And FoC's item certainly shows another facet of the destruction of a free market economy.
