Friedman's about slogans not deep thoughts

Reader comment on: Friedman on Taxes

Thomas Friedman missed his calling. He'd have been great on Madison Avenue. He thinks of catchy phrases and passes them off as policy prescriptions. (Especially regarding the Middle East. "Fayyadism" anyone?) There is not necessarily any logic or rigor to his formulations. It's the game he plays.

And enough people buy into his game that he gets to spout forth at the Aspen Ideas Festival. However, Friedman's ideas are never developed or necessarily even logically consistent.

Needless to say, don't hold your breath waiting for an explanation.
