Reader comment on: Fertility Rates Fall to All-Time Low

Submitted by Lyle (United States), Feb 12, 2013 16:49

World wide the birth rate continues to drop, Mexico for example now has a total fertility rate about the same as the US down from 7 in 1960. Iran is 1.67 (lower than the US) Japan Singapore, South Korea are also low as of course is China and Europe. So the whole world is ageing with the US aging a bit more slowly . It appears that once you educate women they find more interesting things to do than have a gaggle of kids (of course the odds of loosing a child to illness have also decreased drastically over the last century).
