If folks make a decision do go to a lower paying field they should know the facts.Reader comment on: Obama's College Scorecard Submitted by Lyle (United States), Feb 20, 2013 12:40 Folks who decide to enter low paying fields should know what they are doing going into the major, so they are not suprised later. As to the Michael Jordan case that just appears to be sloppy statistics, using the mean versus the median. I would use the median salary which would eliminate the outliers like Jordan, or if you did a study on Harvard dropouts, Bill Gates. College placement centers may know a lot of the pay rates, but of course one then has to dig the information out. In addition of course there are lots of statistics that show pay by field out in the world. The issue is that a lot of folks for one reason or another are unwilling to take the effort to be informed on such issues (much easier today than 30 years ago when one actually had to darken the doors of a physical building called a library, and then find where the information was hidden in the library, today there is the web of course) Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing.
