This piece confuses the man and the organization: An earlier example relates to Jay Gould, he would say that he would do one thing, but then one of the railroads he was involved in would do differently. The man and the company are two different things. If Buffett did not do this he could be sued for mismanagement as he would not be doing the best for his stockholders (since Berkshire Hathaway is a public company). Now if BH were fully owned by Buffett the issue might be different.
