It's really not that hard to understand... as Dickens wrote: "Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."

Ah but the econo-wizards in the Obama Administration know better than to think in such simplistic terms. If you spend 10 years in graduate school you can understand the mysterious process by which spending money saves money, and higher taxes give people more not less.
