Typically it takes a few months for the bill to be paid by the insurance company. I have heard that if you walk in willing to pay cash on the barrelhead you can get a discount, as to the provider cash on hand is worth a lot. (One example is compare the costs of tests in screening programs with otherwise it can be 1/3 to 1/4 the total cost, but again a part is you pay in cash)
