It's not clear from the article if the writer actually did the work of determining if any of those big public companies truly were the purchasers. Their rising fortunes are mentioned, but no other factual connection is identified. In fact the article is otherwise mostly about entrepreneurs buying these things. Maybe sloppy or even biased.
