Depends on the meaning of "reform"Reader comment on: Brandeis and Ayaan Hirsi Ali Submitted by David in Cal (United States), Apr 18, 2014 20:48 It's unclear just what Hirsi Ali meant when she addressed "reform" of Judaism and Christianity. IMHO modern-day Catholics did reform in ways specifically relevant to Hirsi Ali's point. That is, Catholicism no longer preaches hatred and bigotry against non-Catholics. In particular, Catholics no longer go on Crusades to fight and kill Muslims. I wish Islam would reform itself so that it treated non-Muslims with equality. Also, Islam's treatment of women includes some appalling practices. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing. Comment on this item |
