Two PointsReader comment on: How a Republican Governor Killed the Keystone Pipeline Submitted by Lyle (United States), Apr 25, 2014 13:45 1 Trans Canada had a tin ear when it first picked the route, It should have followed the earlier route, except that it wanted to pick up Baaken Crude as part of the deal. (The XL pipeline terminates the same place as the earlier pipeline Steel city NE. But by choosing to pick up the Baaken Oil they picked a big fight., For Bakken Crude they could have run south thru Western ND and Eastern WY to the pipeline hub in Denver. A second point is that it is not clear that the Canadian Liberal party would have the views of a Harper, who comes from Alberta. The gap between Alberta and Ontario and Quebec is large, in political terms as well as geographic terms. So its not clear that the current opposition party would want the Keystone XL built.
