Do Some Basic ResearchReader comment on: New York Public Library Stacks Submitted by Demi Monde (United States), Jun 4, 2014 11:06 This is one of the most ignorant pieces of "news" I have ever read. You clearly don't know even the fundamentals of the genesis of NYPL's plans for renovations, that have been stoking criticism for over 2 1/2 years. The one announced in the Times on Monday is a wonderful balance to what was initially proposed, that enraged everyone from Ada Louise Huxtable to Michael Kimmelman, and countless internationally renowned authors and scholars, and resulted in 2 lawsuits filed against the Library. And just to clue you in, since you have not even one, the Carnegie steel stacks are not climate controlled (temp/humidity), which is essential for the conservation of the materials stored there. They'll go underneath Bryant Park, be easily accessible, and protected. Probably too much information for you. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing.
