"Econonic patriotism" would fit right into Orwell's critique of the egregious misuse of language. What this phrase really means is "We fleece you, and you simply have to take it, because we're in power. No leaving the country allowed, and we're going to dress it up as love of country". Such a phony attempt to lash high taxation to love of one's country is a fatal contradiction, since one important reason to love one's country is that it is a place of freedom and minimal or no coercive taking of the citizens' money.
