CNN has low ratings, and its quite possible it would not meet his goals on profitability. CNN evenings have been slowly turning into travelogs as well (Anthony Bourdain tours the world) as well as specials like the 60s and the like.

Of course the whole model of cable news with so many analysists trying to read their crystal balls gets old very fast. Some times I wish headline news went back to the 20 min formula they used to have and just repeat it. (Rather than the crime of the week coverage).
