Let's go back a bit further than thisReader comment on: Goldman Sachs and Walmart Submitted by Lyle (United States), Apr 23, 2010 17:46 As long as Sam was Alive Wal-Mart had a great image of the David conquering the goliaths of the retail business based upon serving the small towns. Sam died Glass took over and Wal-Mart moved into the big cities with a small town business model. The big city elites and unions did not like this one bit. In the small towns unions are not much of a presence. I do think that some of Sam's ideas got lost in the succession.
