Both Islam and Christianity regard money changing as a bad thing, both banned interest until recently and Islam still does in most places. Christ was shown throwing the money changers out of the temple. So the bias extends back at least 2000 years. It may be a fundamental belief that just moving money around does not really benefit society, only that making or growing things add real value to society.
