if people are getting paid too much, people can elect representatives who will cut the pay, or move away to another location to avoid the tax burden, something this site often says will happen. of course, it is possible that San Franciscans are willing to pay more to live in a place that treats the homeless like people, provides excellent city services and a high quality of life. Perhaps government employees are more effective becuase the higher salaries attract and retain better talent. this is the market at work.
