Reader comment on: Clinton in Haiti

I have no reason to doubt the things you have written concerning Dennis O'Brien and Digicel in Haiti. I will say, though, that I have witnessed first hand how supplying cell service to a small village on the north coast of Haiti has helped improve the conditions there.

Also, my son spent 6 months building houses there on a grant supplied by the Digicel Foundation to a NGO already well established in Haiti. He did such a good job, Digicell Foundation flew him to Ireland to show how he managed to build the number of houses he did of such better quality than those that had been built the year before. When he returned to the US he went back to school and graduated in Construction Management. Digicel's influence extended far beyond Haiti.

Again, I recognize the Clinton and Digicel are perhaps doing as much good as they claim, but they are doing a great deal.
