Eternal life

Reader comment on: HBO and PBS

Ronald Reagan expressed the problem perfectly in saying, "Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!"

Whatever mission PBS and CPB were supposed to serve when they were created by Congress, the need has surely passed. Americans have more choices of entertainment and media than was imaginable then.

Please prove Reagan wrong by eliminating the government's role in these entities. If they can continue to serve their mission as private non-profit entities subsisting on voluntary contributions, more power to them.
