Yes, the Left opposes Uber and provides the justifications you note, but there's a more fundamental reason. Ayn Rand Institute President Yaron Brook elucidates it in this podcast.

It's well worth a listen, but for the impatient he makes the point that companies like Uber and AirBnb disprove the notion that government regulation is necessary for consumer safety, or indeed that it provides us with any net benefit.
