ESRI vs... who exactly?Reader comment on: O'Malley's Speeches Submitted by Chris (United States), Sep 2, 2015 12:15 As a Geographic Information Systems professional, I find that jabbing O'Malley for speaking for ESRI after he left office is pretty cynical and opportunistic. Citing a "no-bid contract" for mapping services with ESRI is like comparing a contract with Microsoft for "Operating System and Office Productivity Software" Who else could you possibly contract with for services? ESRI is the only big player, they provide amazing products, they constantly innovate, every single federal, state and local jurisdiction uses their software, and their depth and width of services is simply untouchable. If this is all that anyone can dig up on O'Malley and speeches money, it's pretty sad. What's even more sad is that Hogan is evidently holding up the new Maryland State ESRI contract just to score political points. http://imap.maryland.gov/Pages/default.aspx Check out one small part of what ESRI does. Maryland is getting their money's worth. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing. Comment on this item |
