"No politician is openly advocating simply shrugging and tolerating a certain level of terrorist violence..." I'm afraid that's precisely what Obama means when he breezily refers to America's ability to "absorb" terrorist attacks. Not as the price of civil liberties, mind you, but as the price of deliberate inertia.
